Śrīkṣetra Siddhatek is the place where Lord Viṣṇu performed austerities. The idol of Lord Śrīsiddhivināyaka was installed by Śrīhari himself. A temple dedicated to Lord Viṣṇu still exists in this place to commemorate the fact that Lord Viṣṇu stayed in this area & performed penance. The temple of Śrī Viṣṇu is facing east and can be seen on a small hillock, to the west of Śrī Siddhivināyaka temple. The peculiarity of this temple is that although the temple is on a high platform, this temple has no steps on any of its sides.
According to the popular legend here, many people tried to build steps to this temple but none of them succeeded. Even today, if you visit the temple, there are some stones piled up in the western direction of the temple. With the help of it, only the priests go up and perform regular pooja-worship. It is as if Lord Viṣṇu’s austerities must also be accustomed to peace. It is undeniable that if one reaches this temple from the back side, one will not fail to be captivated by the exquisite tranquility of the place.
